2020 Board Nominations

All nominations must be completed electronically online through the FLASHA website. Anyone may nominate a regular FLASHA member in good standing for a board position, or FLASHA Regular Members may self-nominate. Associate, Affiliate, Student, Retired, and Life Members are not eligible to run for office.

The following board positions are available for nominations:

President Elect & Treasurer

The President-Elect & Secretary/Treasurer shall appoint, subject to the approval of the Executive Board, all chairs of Committees to serve during his or her year and shall assist the President in all matters concerning the Association and, in the event of vacancy of the office of President, shall assume the President’s responsibilities. In addition, the President-Elect & Secretary/Treasurer shall perform the duties of Secretary/Treasurer which shall include, but not be limited to, serving as the Chair of the Budget Committee, function as liaison with the Association Office with regard to budget and disbursement of Association monies, sign resolutions or other certified copies of acts of the Association, and attest to the signatures of others. This individual will serve for one year as President-Elect and Treasurer (June 2020-May 2021), 2 years as President (June 2021-May 2023), and 2 years as Immediate Past President (June 2023-May 2025). The President-Elect will work alongside the President in the first year of the term to learn the administration and executive functions of the organization.

Vice President of Governmental Education

The Vice President for Governmental Education shall be responsible for all activities related to legislative and governmental issues, including leading state-level advocacy and lobbying efforts on behalf of and alongside members of the association. The VP for Governmental Education serves as the board liaison for the state's STAR and STAMP representatives and the Medicaid Committee. This individual shall observe the general duties of FLASHA Executive Board members as described in the Policies and Procedures Manual and serve a two-year term (June 2020- May 2022).

Vice President of Communications

The Vice President for Communications shall be responsible for website management, marketing (including email blasts and social media campaigns), and advertising. The VP for Communications shall serve as editor for the FLASHA Forum newsletter and work to expand the public relations and resources of the association. The Vice President for Communications shall observe the general duties of FLASHA Executive Board members as described in the Policies and Procedures Manual and serve a two-year term (June 2020- May 2022).

Vice President of Membership

The Vice President of Membership shall be responsible for all activities related to the recruitment and retention of membership within the association, and to assist with growing membership across all areas. The VP of Membership is responsible for managing member records and reports through the website, and corresponding with potential and current members via phone, email, and website engagement. The VP for Membership will regularly review and approve new member requests, chair the membership committee, and oversee the student liaison committee. The Vice President for Membership shall observe the general duties of FLASHA Executive Board members as described in the Policies and Procedures Manual and serve a two-year term (June 2020 - May 2022).

Vice President of Educational Services

The Vice President for Educational Services shall be responsible for all activities related to professional practices in educational settings (PK-12 and higher ed), and to assist in the implementation of legislative and government issues related to the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology in this setting. In particular, this individual will oversee the Schools Task Force's efforts toward statewide caseload/workload legislation. This individual serves as the board liaison for the state's SEAL representative. The Vice President for Educational Services shall observe the general duties of FLASHA Executive Board members as described in the Policies and Procedures Manual and serve a two-year term (June 2020-May 2022).
