In reference to our legislative activities, FLASHA has been selected to receive a $1,000 stipend awarded by ASHA to develop or further student participation in legislative activities and/or an Advocacy Day in 2012. FLASHA's plan to develop participation in student advocacy is as follows:
The state NSSHLA groups will be asked to design a logo for a give-a-way for legislators. The top two NSSHLA groups with the winning design will win $250 and $100 respectively. The first prize logo design will be developed into a give-a-way for the legislators. The top two winning groups will be given a travel stipend of $100.00 each to attend the legislative day in Tallahassee. To increase participation in the 2012 legislative day each of the NSSLHA chapters will be provided with $25.00 toward a continental breakfast (e.g., bagels and coffee) which they can enjoy while participating virtually through Skype during a 2-hour presentation in Tallahassee with our lobbyist on the topic of advocacy. Each chapter will receive give-a-ways which they can present to their legislators in their home areas.
